THE RICE

Rice bran is made in Kyoto from brown rice whose grains are stripped and polished four times. They are delicately sifted tTo achieve whiteness and fineness. This is manual work: the production of 2.5 kg of rice bran powder requires 60 kg of rice.
Historically, women in Kyoto began to wash their faces with the liquid obtained after rinsing the rice. Given the results, washing the face with rice powder became a widespread practice.
