Description

The moment is composed of a two-step gesture. By opening or closing the Alabaster’s box, you lock up or release one the fascinating scents of the Officine Universelle Buly. However, all does not end with the love of a perfume, because the very object, the Alabaster, is a captivating artefact. By far the most elegant and delicate way to perfume your home, the alabaster is composed of three elements: a porcelain box, a perfume stone and a bottle of perfume essence. The alabaster can perfume any space – hallways, boudoirs, bathrooms, dressing rooms, cars and other glove compartments.

3 boxes to available for choice:

- Mademoiselle Ismir. This female face comes from a Lemire aîné engraving. This French painter and designer was an art teacher at the École Royale de polytechnique at the very beginning of the 19th century, just when Claude Bully was creating his cosmetics brand, soon assisted by his son Jean-Vincent. From 1793 to 1819, Lemire Aîné exhibited at the Salon de peinture et de sculpture (known as the Salon) in Paris. Here, Lemire Ainé entitled his portrait “Jeune Turque dessinée d’après nature”. We can observe the adornments of the young lady named Ismir by the Officine: a headdress of white fabric – a sacred colour – tied with rings is placed on her head and around her neck, she wears fine precious metal chains.

- Mademoiselle Baikal. Lemire Ainé chose to name his portrait “Jeune Russe dessinée d’après nature”. The young women’s head, named Baïkal by the Officine, is adorned with a kokoshnik, a traditional Russian headdress. In this engraving, it is black embroidered with gold thread, worn with the sarafan, a straight dress without sleeves.

- This portrait of “Mademoiselle Mars” represents a famous actress of the time, Anne-Françoise-Hippolyte Boutet, so-called Mademoiselle Mars, born in 1779. Here, we see her wearing the costume of Betty, a character from “La jeunesse de Henri V” by Alexandre Duval, a three-act play staged in 1806.

“I find it harder and harder every day to live up to my blue china.” Oscar Wilde

The Officine's prowess

The Alabaster is a new heatless and steam less way of diffusing fragrance with great perfuming power. Its name is inspired by the Greek vases that were used to collect and preserve perfumed oils intended for body care, the first perfumes, whose porous terracotta retained the delicious scents.

The Alabaster is made up of a painted porcelain box, the choice of which is yours – three different portraits – a 5ml bottle of perfume concentrate and a soberly cut piece of exceptionally porous sedimentary stone with a very fine honeycombed structure. The impressive absorption coefficient of this layered mineral makes it the best of diffusers.

By opening or closing the Alabaster’s box, you lock up or release one the fascinating scents of the Officine Universelle Buly.

Advice for Use & Care

Pour 1/3 of the perfume essence on the stone.

The scented blend diffuses naturally while the elegant blue and white porcelain box is open. The Alabaster is perfect to perfume wardrobes, drawers, bathrooms, cars, small and medium-sized rooms efficiently and durably.

NB. Pour the perfume essence with care. In case of contact with hands, wash them and rinse them thoroughly. Do not ingest and keep out of the reach of children. Keep away from heat or spark sources. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
