THE SHEA NUT

The scientific name of shea is Vitellaria paradoxa, a tree that proudly thrives in West and Central Africa in a semi-arid climate. Due to bush fires, it is listed as a threatened species. Its slow growth and late flowering make shea difficult to grow and therefore valuable.
Half of the shea nut is composed of fat, hence it being one of the most popular moisturisers across the world. Its shell is washed and then dried before being reduced to powder, a healing treatment for mature or very dry skin.
