ALUM STONE POWDER

In its natural state, alum is a veined rock, translucent and quite friable, formed from sulfuric acid -alumina- and sulfate of potash. The oldest alum mines are located in Egypt and Syria. Traditionally, alum stone is detailed, cut and polished by hand to obtain a smooth pebble, to be passed gently over the skin, but it can also be used in powder form, for a purifying action.
