Description

Since the dawn of time, ever since hair first appeared on earth (and atop countless heads), the realm of hairstyling has never ceased to evolve. Through the ages, following trends, and sometimes breaking conventions, hairstyling has become an art form. Egyptian women with their elaborate hairstyles of a thousand plaits or Marie Antoinette with her towering headdresses reaching up to the heavens cannot attest otherwise.

The five great pillars of the art of hairstyling are: knowledge of hair, mastery of the gesture, patience, the perfect tools, and creativity. Like sculpture, this art transforms a daily gesture, which for some can feel like a chore, into a refined and poetic ritual. Under the fairy-like touch of a skilled hairdresser or an expert stylist, hair becomes a true ephemeral masterpiece, endowing every face with a haughty allure. Whether you like your hair tidy, naturally beautiful, or extravagantly wild, colourful or tousled, the Officine has a collection of combs, clips, and acetate accessories to delight and suit every hairstyle.

A true hair ornament carved from high-quality acetate, The Intrepid rises to any challenge: embellishing a chignon or a plait, taming a rebellious hair strand in haste, or turning your hairstyle into an admirable sculpture… Its long teeth ensure a perfect grip within the hair without harming the scalp.

Available in two colours, tortoiseshell or ivory, this jewel-like comb is sure to find the perfect match for its teeth!

The Officine's prowess

The Officine has the largest collection of beauty accessories in the world on its shelves: hundreds of combs and brushes for all types of hair or beards, bath accessories (horsehair gloves, embroidered pumice stones, wooden brushes…) but also make-up brushes, toothbrushes or razors…
Often customizable, these beauty accessories become essential when it comes to brushing, scrubbing, shaving, detangling or even applying make-up with care. The Officine Universelle Buly has travelled across the world in search of these daintily crafted tools for body, face and hair care. These treasures are often handcrafted by talented artisans.

Advice for Use & Care

Gently and vigorously detangle your hair before styling it into a large low-set chignon. Secure it with a few discreet pins and a fine elastic. Gently place the ornamental comb between the scalp and the chignon, inserting it in deeply enough to keep it firmly in place. Admire your new hairstyle, enhanced by this sublime acetate jewel bearing your name.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

This chignon comb can be cleaned with a cloth and a little water when needed. A little tip known to opticians: being a natural fibre, acetate must be moisturized twice a year with a rich substance such as shea or coconut butter. It is not recommended to expose acetate to sudden changes in temperature or to high temperatures.

Composition

Cellulose acetate is a luxurious material invented in 1865 by Paul Schützenberger and then perfected at the beginning of the 20th century by two Swiss chemists, Camille and Henry Dreyfus. Generally extracted from cotton, this natural polymer is inherently endowed with several properties that make it the perfect component for the comb of the Officine: soft to the touch, it is perfectly resistant to water and the passage of time.

GREAT BENEFITS

This ornamental comb is an acetate jewel gifted with the most elegant of distinctions: personalisation. Names or initials can be engraved in gold lettering on its acetate, allowing you to claim full ownership or make it a perfect gift.

“Of all the arts, hairstyling ought to be the most esteemed: painting and sculpture that keep people alive after their death cannot contest the title of an equal art. There is a big difference between the artist and the hairdresser! It is living beauty that the latter enhances, a sex before whom all others yield, that humbly seeks its aid: the painter’s brush roams only over canvas, while the sculptor’s chisel wears down on the very marble it seeks to tame.”
History of women's hairstyles, La Comtesse Marie de Villermont (1848-1925)
