The time has come for grand ceremonies. Those that are prepared with care, shaped in reverie, and honoured in their most tangible form: the present moment. Like the sky, the mood dons its festive attire - embroidered in azure and vermilion - to pay tribute to the most coveted of all figures: Summer, O Flamboyant King of the Four Seasons.

Summer. A palindromic word whose brief sound does nothing to diminish the freedom it evokes. Free will of the body, and elation of the spirit. It is the apotheosis of the dance of the four seasons, the divine solstice that bathes earth and sky in multicoloured hues and warm light. Summer, a Dionysian realm that follows spring, offering it every chance to rest on its laurels... in bloom for the season.

“Sounds love to revel in a summer night.”

Al Aaraaf, Edgar Allan Poe

At summertime, the Illustrious Sun enters the stage at its zenith, casting its rays by the thousand, invisible beams of bliss. Smiles grow wider, souls light up, and the complexion takes on a glowing hue. The hair loosens and tangles in the breeze and salt-kissed water, a sweet, acceptable mess. At last, the skin bares itself with no shame, revealing new satin-like sheen. The entire northern hemisphere is tuned in the service of a new-found joy.

Perhaps this is the true summer allegory. A universal elation with a thousand and one joyful faces. A ballet choreographed by laughter, by footsteps swayed with the surrounding fervour, and by long dinners that stretch endlessly… across space and time. From dusk to dawn. From dawn to dusk.

Sunflowers, Vincent Van Gogh, 1887-1889

Thus, The Officine unveils its summer olfactory calendar for delightful fragrant embraces:

THE SUMMER DANCE OF SCARLET VEGETABLE GARDENS

Scandinavian Redcurrant and Peruvian Tomato - a sunny, zesty fragrance - is an astral flight where the colour of the fruit and the vibrant scent awaken both skin and spirit. A fiery perfume that could well make the celebrated landscape of the kitchen garden blush.

REDCURRANT AND TOMATO

A FLORAL BOUQUET & A BITTERSWEET OCEAN

Berkane Orange Blossom, an invigorating floral fragrance, takes you on an olfactory journey to the promised land of the Mediterranean - a realm of Fire and Sun - where blooming orange trees dance beneath the breeze of Neroli and lend their shade for rest and dreams.

MYRRHFUL FLORAL QUATUOR

Eritrean Myrrh, a fragrance of flowers and sun, unveils a blossoming friendship between tuberose, magnolia, rose and jasmine. Majestic Beauties, in the kingdom of petals, converse with their stems in water and a mysterious figure... myrrh and its balsamic notes.

FIERY PASSION THE TIME OF A SUMMER

Mexican Tuberose, a fragrance of joy and sensuality, captures the essence of the Madonna of white flowers - the tuberose - enriched at will with hints of vanilla, clove, and musk. A bewitching, almost sinful scent that captivates the skin for the summer, and beyond.

A VEIL OF GREEN MIST UPON THE GARDEN

Andean Verbena and Ulu Basil, a fragrance of verdant joviality, settles lightly on the skin like sea spray along the ocean’s edge. A much-appreciated burst of freshness to counter the depths of the scorching heat.

Dalinae Viola Cogitans, Salvador Dalí, 1968

VERBENA AND BASIL

“On summer evenings, when they had walked for hours along the stony paths beside the vineyards, or on the main road through the countryside, and the corn was rippling in the sun, while the scent of angelica passed through the air, a kind of suffocation would seize them, and they would lie on their backs, dazed and intoxicated.”

Gustave Flaubert

With its finely balanced fragrant trail, this cleansing care results from the unexpected marriage of soap and beauty oil, one bringing cleanliness and comfort, the other softness and creaminess. Even though the skin must endure repeated washing, the Huile de Savon does not dry it out. It transforms the cleansing ritual into a moment of fragrant grace that one never tires of.
