Alabaster Campagne d'Italie

By far the most elegant and delicate way to perfume a room, the alabaster is made of three elements: a porcelain box, a stone and a perfume essence bottle. The “Campagne d’Italie” alabaster fills the chosen space – antechamber, boudoir, bathroom, dressing room, car and other glove compartments – with glorious bergamot and grapefruit accords, crowned with cedar, sandalwood and patchouli.

The “Campagne d’Italie” Alabaster captures a moment in History: when dreams of glory and conquest took flight beyond the Piedmont and Lombardy countryside, in 1796. Delicate bergamot and grapefruit rinds, still warm from the sun, blend with woody cedar and oak notes.

The head notes of “Campagne d’Italie” are reminiscent of the perfumes celebrated in 18th-century Italy, such as “Aqua Mirabilis”, designed by Italian nuns and known to have inspired the well-known “Eau de Cologne”, with bergamot, citrus fruit and nutmeg as star ingredients. Napoleon Bonaparte discovered the fragrance during his Italian campaign and became enthralled by it, almost to the point of obsession. Historians documented his use of thirty-odd bottles per month – a habit he kept even in exile on the island of Saint Helena. Rumour has it that he would consume a few drops on a piece of sugar before going on the battlefield.

At its heart, behind the intoxicating fresh citrus fruit notes, the fragrance outlines a fascinating landscape with the woody accords of a trio of cedar, oak and sandalwood. A graceful homage to the sublime hills and plains scattered along the banks of the river Pô, from the Piedmont vineyards to the magnificent Lombardy lakes.

Lastly, “Campagne d’Italie” crescendoes to the grand finale of the fireworks with unapologetic hedonism. The scent celebrates the Italian way of life, its bright sensuality with the bewitching sweetness of vanilla, Tonka bean and patchouli.

The Peoples throng around your beauty,
Their hearts aflame, their minds lit at your fire,
Your perfume carried with them always!
A l’Italie, Poèmes barbares, Leconte de Lisle (1862)

A poetic evocation of bucolic hills from another era, “Campagne d’Italie” was chosen by the mythical Hôtel de Crillon, one of the seven 5-star luxury hotels nested in the heart of Paris, on the Place de la Concorde, to be their signature interior fragrance, using scented candles and alabasters.

The Officine's prowess

The Alabaster is a new heatless, smokeless way to diffuse a fragrance, with a considerable perfuming power. Its name comes from the Greek vases used to draw and hold scented oils for body care rituals or the first perfumes, and whose porous pottery retained the exquisite scent.

The Alabaster is a painted porcelain box – there’s a choice of three portraits – containing a simply cut piece of an extremely porous sedimentary stone, and comes with a 5 ml perfume concentrate bottle. The pumice stone and its myriad vesicles is extremely absorbant and therefore the perfect mineral to diffuse the scent.

Open or close the box of the Alabaster at will to free the fascinating Buly fragrance or to seal it back in.

Advice for Use & Care

Pour 1/3 of the perfume essence on the stone.

The scented blend diffuses naturally while the elegant blue and white porcelain box is open. The Alabaster is perfect to perfume wardrobes, drawers, bathrooms, cars, small and medium-sized rooms efficiently and durably.

NB. Pour the perfume essence with care. In case of contact with hands, wash them and rinse them thoroughly. Do not ingest and keep out of the reach of children. Keep away from heat or spark sources. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Hints of leather, bark, earth, pine needles and summer-roasted leaves. The plains, white with sun and crisscrossed by scout honey bees, make for a blinding wait. In the warm shade of the woods, amid the thick silence of the oaks and cedars, the clatter of horses being harnessed, the impatience of restless hoofs, the glint of rifles before the charge.
