This beautifying treatment, dry to the touch, is extremely nourishing thanks to a synergy between three oils: sesame, apricot, and coconut. This Huile Antique is also divinely scented with rose. As soon as it is applied, skin regains its radiance and sacred splendour, leaving a trail of a bouquet of roses spiced with ginger and vetiver.
This dry oil is a perfect nectar for the skin. Composed of three natural plant oils, it possesses a cumulative beneficial effect: the more you use it, the more the skin transforms due to its shaping and moisturizing effects. Sesame oil is a unique treasure: it was the world’s first vegetable extract in Mesopotamia, 3,500 years ago. It has softening qualities and is extremely easily absorbed. Fortified with antioxidants – Vitamin E, lecithin and sesamolin – it protects the skin against ageing. As for apricot oil, it strengthens the skin’s hydrolipidic layer and prevents dehydration. Finally, in this protective trio, comes coconut oil, which softens, tones, and restores unparalleled radiance, thanks to the presence of Vitamins E, K and its rich iron content.
In 1834, Jean-Vincent Bully added Huile Antique to his beauty catalogue, inspired by Ancient Greek cosmetic practices and restorative skincare from thermal baths. This treatment, highly popular at the beginning of the 19th century, when there was a vogue for all things evoking Antiquity, was reinvented and brought up to date by the Officine.
A rose absolute: freshly picked in the garden as it just blossomed, still pearled with morning dew. Fresh, natural, persisting, with light ginger, vetiver and Atlas cedar notes and a subtle musk accord, it opens up like corolla once combined with the skin, without ever being too dominant.
The Damask Rose is also a time-travelling agent. Complex despite its apparent simplicity, it evokes the fragrance of the ancient rose praised by poet Omar Khayyam, one that has been blossoming for millennia in the Middle East at the end of Spring. According to the legend, knights of the Crusades brought them back from Persia to Europe. A few centuries later, empress Joséphine de Beauharnais, known for her passion for horticulture, created in Malmaison the most magnificent rose garden of her time, where thousands of roses were cultivated. A perfect homage to the most fascinating of flowers.
Advice for Use & Care
Huile Antique can be applied all over the body, on slightly damp skin, after a shower or bath. Massage from the feet up to the neckline area, spending some extra time on the heels, knees and elbows.
Huile Antique is a mixture of naturally beautifying oils – sesame, apricot, and coconut – with squalene, a vegetable extract from olive oil. Through its biomimetic action, it possesses a natural affinity for the epidermis, and plays the role of a natural emollient.
