Castor oil has been used in the preparation for remedies and treatments for millennia. A small tropical shrub from the euphorbiaceae family, castor gives life to seeds covered with spines. They are cold pressed for the extraction of the coveted oil.
Mainly composed of ricinoleic acid, it surprises with its thick and syrupy texture. Known for its multiple virtues, it is said that this oil was Cleopatra’s favourite.

From “An Atlas of Natural Beauty”

In a ceramic bowl set in a double boiler, melt a teaspoon of castor oil, a teaspoon of jojoba oil, a knob of shea butter and a teaspoon of beeswax. When the mixture cools (and before it solidifies) add a drop of peppermint essential oil. Pour it into a previously sterilised small container with a screw lid. Once solidified, take a little bit of balm and massage your lips. Repeat this every morning. This balm can be kept for several months in the fridge.
