Description

Fringes, hundred-day beards and baby hairs all require special attention. When combed neatly, they are full of charm; neglected, they can undo the harmony of an entire face.

Many are those who dream of adopting a fringe or growing a beard, yet have not quite taken the plunge, so daunting does the upkeep seem. A wandering breeze, a raised eyebrow, an overly hug or the habit of constantly touching one’s face... and before you know it, unruly tufts have appeared.

Small in size but with a sturdy handle, the Carefree comb is the ideal companion for fringes, short hair, beards and other unruly tufts. A few careful strokes with this acetate comb detangle, smooth and tidy both hair and facial hair, ensuring a day free from hair-related hassles.

Its handle ensures a perfect grip, while its row of closely set teeth tame every wayward strand. No one can resist its toothed caress...

Perfectly sized, it slips easily into a bag or pocket, ready for a few opportune touch-ups to keep every strand in order. A nomadic comb in the service of the fleeting art of hairstyling.

Precautions

In order to guarantee the integrity of acetate-made products, a particularly sensitive material, these products should not be exposed to strong sources of heat and humidity. Contact with chemical substances should also be avoided.

The Officine's prowess

This is undoubtedly an exercise resulting from the principles of goldsmithing. Twelve steps are necessary to manufacture each comb of the Officine Universelle Buly.

The process begins with the cutting of acetate according to the template of the chosen model. The shaping then consists of adjusting the acetate to the design of the comb. Polishing and dulling are then necessary steps to round off the angles and sharpen the teeth. The manufacture of the comb continues with the meticulous making of the teeth: the acetate is sawed to draw the teeth that are then faceted.
Ultimate beauty treatment: the sanding smoothes the surface and rounds the tips of the teeth. Lastly, the comb is brushed.
The steam bath gives shine and the polishing carried out by the expert hands of the craftsman complete this high-quality product of great merit.

Advice for Use & Care

Softness and dexterity are the key words of a successful disentangling operation: it is unnecessary to force your way or to comb too frankly.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

This comb can be cleaned with a cloth and a little water.
A little trick known to all eyewear manufacturers, being a natural fibre, acetate must be hydrated twice a year with a rich texture such as shea or coconut butter.

It is recommended to keep the acetate of this comb away from sudden changes in temperature or high temperatures (direct sunlight, hot water).

Composition

Cellulose acetate comb.

A luxurious material, cellulose acetate was invented in 1865 by Paul Schützenberger and subsequently perfected in the very early twentieth century by two Swiss chemists, Camille and Henri Dreyfus. Generally extracted from cotton, this natural polymer possesses several inherent properties that make it the perfect material for Buly combs: it is hypoallergenic and highly resistant to mould. From an environmental perspective, acetate is biodegradable and can even be slowly composted.
